The Reason

I have been thinking about this for a while. Based on my last post, I will explain a little more. Granted, being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when you are 18 is QUITE traumatic but that is not even the reason that I watch movies over and over again!

I think I was NOT thinking about it because I didn’t WANT TO acknowledge the fact that my vision is going/dimming/fading just like that horrible doctor said 22 years ago! I did not want to handle it when I was 18 but now, when I am 40, I have no choice.

Having had MS for 22 years now, when I wake up, I put in one drop of eyedrops before I put my contacts in every day. Once my contacts are in, I put my glasses on which are $9 glasses from Amazon but I have a prism over my right eye to allow me to see single objects clearly.

I have another set of eyedrops that I put two drops in each eye when my eyes get dry (which is quite often!). When I watch the same movie multiple times, I do not have to strain my eyes to really focus on what I am looking at, I already know what’s going on in the movie. My eyes are relaxed each time I watch Hocus-Pocus in October and Love Actually in December!

I guess this was just to explain the method to my madness and this song fits as well (AND it’s in my head):

January 2023 Faves

I am nothing if I am not consistent! Today is New Year’s Day:

You’re welcome!!! I have recently been thinking about this CD and I bought it back when I was still able bodied enough to shower in the bathroom in my room. I eventually had to move to the main bathroom to use the handicapped railing. But these songs are in my head now and I’m thinking of winter time and our second apartment:

I remember that I was listening to the CD and the song title was scrolling along the dash and Sean saw Ed and his eight year old self asked, ”What are you? A dog?!” I think I smirked and told him that I liked this song!:

Last Christmas

My Mom paid for the purchase of Last Christmas yesterday so of course we watched it! There are 15 George Michael songs in the soundtrack. I told my Mom about the ‘Freedom’ video and the supermodels so when it was over, I HAD TO show it to her:

She didn’t understand why he was burning the leather jacket and I told her that I vaguely remember some kind of label dispute with him and his record company. I showed her this video as well:

so this is a departure from my Christmas music but it is related because ‘last Christmas’ by Wham! is my favorite song! And George Michael is in that band!

December 2022 Faves

So, I’ve been listening to my Christmas playlist since December 1! But there is something going on as well. I did not realize this until last night because I was eating a lot of chocolate! I can have the dove dark and mint chocolate and I bite it into four pieces. I usually just have one or three at most but I was eating them a lot and I couldn’t figure out why!

But then, it hit me. It’s December. December 28 is coming. This year, it will be 22 years since I was diagnosed with MS. I have had that for years more than half of my life and that just kind of hurts. So, I can’t get rid of the melancholy feel around this time as well so I’ll post the two songs that help me get through it:

That’s Why?!

I think I did this a couple Christmases ago. I made a playlist of all my favorite Christmas songs! The day after Thanksgiving, I am free to play that playlist constantly which is what I have been doing. I put my favorite song four times in a row on it to begin the playlist. Everyone knows by now what my favorite song is but if you have some sort of lapse in judgment, I will remind you:

I couldn’t understand why I had saved this song in my playlist. I grew up hearing it so I was familiar with it but I didn’t know why it was in my playlist until my Mom told me that she likes that song! That’s why?!

I have told everyone my favorite song and just this year, my Mom and I were watching The Santa Clause and my Mom mentioned that she likes the Carol of the Bells. So YOU KNOW that I had to add another song to my Christmas playlist!:

I added these two songs because my Mom likes them, that’s why!

O, Holy Night

This Christmas song will forever remind me of my cousins,Sal and Melinda, and their friend serenaded us one evening when we celebrated Christmas in Texas. The biggest thing that absolutely blew my mind was that we barbecued on Christmas day with my aunt and uncle!

I think it was a couple years ago when someone asked on Twitter our favorite version of the Christmas Carol, O, holy night. I interact with this guy a lot on Twitter because he tweets funny things! He tweeted a survey that gave us four options of a singer but then there was a fifth option, it was, “other,”

So I checked the other box and tweeted this video! He responded with just a, “Wow!” And I agreed in my response because I love this song! I have already listened to it a number of times since Friday!:

The whole reason I am saying this is because I am wearing a shirt I got a few years ago and it says, “Oh Holy Night” So I am going to post this blog post in hopes that you can still get the Jon Secada version of this song by clicking on the link.

My First after Thanksgiving Movie

Today is not an excellent day but I decided to watch my first Christmas movie of the year. It’s my very first after Thanksgiving movie and it’s completely fitting that it was Last Christmas.

I heard this song when she is sitting at the bar and turns down another drink and she goes home. This song is from when I was seven years old! At least that’s what I am thinking. It was summer time and we had our green carpet at my Parents’ house in our living room back then:

it looks like it is turning out to be a double feature today and I don’t mind at all!!!
