Confession
Last week, just after my brother made the eandom Shirley Temple reference, my Mom was talking to him on the phone and I was seated in the kitchen taking my vitamins and overhearing their conversation. She put him on speaker and unbeknownst to him, he confessed. Immediately when he said this, I started to laugh and my Mom had no idea what he was talking about.
He said something extremely mundane but it was completely an inside joke and something only me and my two immediate older brothers would understand. He was forced to explain this comment to my Mom through my laughter! I’ve been thinking about writing this post for a while and it makes me laugh every time I think about it!
As I have been thinking about writing this post, this song popped into my head, completely unrelated, but my brother DID just confess:
My brother said, “Not I, said the duck!” I responded by laughing uncontrollably and my Mom had no idea what we were talking about.
Here is what he was talking about:
When I was a child, I think it was in a cartoon about a Mother Hen and her wanting assistance in the kitchen. i’m pretty sure there were three animals there, a cat, a duck, and a pig. Each one of the animals took a turn to say, “Not I.” My two older brothers would say the lines and one would be the duck and the other would be the cat and therefore would only leave, “Not I, said the pig!”
I continued to laugh as my brother explained this role assignment to my Mom. He told my Mom that the only line left for me to say was, “Not I, said the pig!” My Mom was completely aghast and she looked at me as I laughed and told me that I should never have said it. That is where Dave stated his confession:He told my Mom that if I didn’t say it, they would have beat me up!
The shocked look on her face continued as my laughter did! They would definitely have beat me up if I didn’t say it and they beat me up for so many other things throughout my childhood that I have lost count! But, it was nice to hear him confess that to my Mom. It’s better late than never and I don’t mind that it took about 33 years to take place but at least it took place!!!
My The Office Binge Day 36
Continued my binge and I’m really happy that Andy and Erin got together! I watched it until I saw the outcome of that! I don’t like Cathy but I thought I would dislike her more! It’s good that Jim is an upstanding man! I love this show and I’m almost finished…
My The Office Binge Day 35
Jim just left for Florida with Cathy. Sean told me I would not like her and based on her telephone conversation before they left, I don’t think I will! I had to stop my binge because of it.
My The Office Binge Day 34
I got to the Christmas episode for season eight. I really hope that Andy and Erin get together again!!! Sean wouldn’t tell me but he spoiled it for me regarding Creed.
My The Office Binge Day 33
I saw a couple episodes best Andy’s, “Closing Time”end of the day ritual but this one really stuck with me. Haven’t heard that song in a long time!
My The Office Binge Day 32
I am about three episodes into season eight. I finished by watching Andy’s garden party at Dwight’s farm. I don’t like Andy’s dad but I laughed when they sang:
Most Random
Something that I’ve learned since my Mom came to stay with me is that talks to my brothers pretty much every day! Often times, she will put them on speakerphone while she’s doing something. I get to talk to them as well when she does this. The other day, she was talking to my brother, Dave, and he said something that my Mom completely knew what he was talking about but I didn’t until she showed me this video:
Dave repeated Shirley Temples’ last lines: “ children shouldn’t be so very bold, “Children should do what they are told, or you will be in a mini one year old.” So he said that during the day and my Mom and I watched this clip at night and I started to laugh!
My brother Dave ALWAYS remembers the most random things! The next day, we watched the video clip with him on FaceTime and he laughed too! I asked how he remembered that and he said that he had no idea and that it just popped into his head.
He said he hasn’t seen that for 30 years regarding the clip. It sounds vaguely familiar that we saw this movie once, probably about 30 years ago because I was a kid. He really remembers the most random things! I appreciated that we all had a good laugh about this song and it’s been in my head since then!
My The Office Binge Day 31
My binge was suspended yesterday because I was really down in the dumps. Finished season seven today and Hi started to begin watching season eight tomorrow:
When I restarted my binge, it was on the episode where D’Angelo juggled imaginary balls and I hadn’t heard this song for a long time!:
Smiled Through My Tears
Yesterday was a difficult day for me. I couldn’t sleep and I saw this on Facebook at about 2 o’clock in the morning:
I read the article and this stuck out to me:
That hospital has been a huge part of my life! My Dad had both of his heart surgeries there and I had Sean there and he stayed there for 31 days in NICU. I spent that month there every day. When I saw this, it made me smile because Journey ALWAYS reminds me of my Mom so of course, I cried but I also smiled through my tears.
