Sepmber 2018 Faves

I watched the last Lions preseason game on Thursday. I was completely inundated with truck commercials.  All kinds of trucks!  Because I am beginning to research the  necessary things to get a truck modified for my  motorized chair, I almost felt like I was part of the club!

I’ve just begun figuring things out and I’m excited that Advantage Mobility can handle it and then I will be hooked up with ATC Conversion to get a Silverado;  because it has to be a GM truck!

Then I saw a Jeep commercial and I really dug this song!

Granted, it was NO Matthew Stafford and not even a GM vehicle but the song is good.  I haven’t gotten out of the house to hear new music and Ryan Tedder is good enough for me!

 

ALMOST Forgotten Tune #24

I recently saw an interview that Zoe Kravitz had with Jimmy Kimmel. She is Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz‘s daughter.   I didn’t think of this song until I was watching The Cutting Edge OnDemand. I remember liking  this movie when I was a kid when I was like in fourth grade.  It came out when I was in third grade and Lenny Kravitz’s song came out when I was in second grade. The beginning of this song was playing in the background at a New Year’s Eve party in the movie.

I remember my older brothers playing this song in the basement and I asked my brother Steve to play that, “Smoky Robinson song that I had never heard before.”  He laughed and told me that was Lenny Kravitz.

ALMOST Forgotten Tune #23

 I heard this song a couple of days ago when I saw Pink! watching people’s covers of her songs. When I heard this song I was immediately transported to a dinner fundraiser for a friend. I heard this song at the restaurant and I tried to block it out. Not because I don’t absolutely love it, because I do but because it reminded me of my Dad.   This song got tons of radio play just after he died.   Today is 12 years since he has been gone and I think about them so much! I tried not to hear this song because it reminds me of him! He hasn’t visited me in my sleep for a while though…

ALMOST Forgotten Tune #22

I think this song is the most ALMOST forgotten tune thus far!   I saw a Facebook post that I had to share about songs that were released in 1998. That makes me 16. Now, the 16-year-old Jen had no fear and would belt out any song, anywhere, and with  anyone she was with! When I saw this song was in the list, I screamed and mediately had to share it and find it on YouTube to sing along.

I got so excited and told my son that this song was my jam! I didn’t dare sing-along because I do not have the pipes that I used to and he made fun of me once it started to play.

NEW GOAL = To  have the nerve AND (most importantly) the pipes to belt this song out once again!

August 2018 Faves

My musical time warp continues and I heard this song a bit ago. I have not downloaded it on my playlist but there’s LOTS of memories attached to it! My Mom told me that memories can never be forgotten whether good or bad. This song has some memories!   This one goes way back!:

ALMOST Forgotten Tune #21

But not really… This song is a Barwis tune!  I had not really remembered it but once I heard it, I could NEVER forget it! I smiled broadly as I sat in the car alone and as I heard a little bit more of the song,  my eyes welled up with tears! I love and miss Barwis so much!!  This song was a, “Back in the day”jam when Dusty, Jesse, Adam, Eric, and Deeds were there!

I didn’t so much dig this song but now that Barwis memories are attached to it, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!

July 2018 Faves

Well, with this EXTREME heat, I pretty much only leave my house to go to church. Mr. Wright told me a while ago that you know that you’re old when you listen to music from your generation. Well, I guess I’m old! That and since I don’t really listen to the radio and haven’t been exposed to new music, I just watch clips of Carpool Karaoke because I was awakened to this one and got addicted to it and I had to watch a million others!

These clips reminded me of my kids when I used to teach and had a finger on the pulse because I was around middle schoolers all day and Mr. Curl played the music during his physical education classes which was right outside my door:

The BEST Cover EVER

Last night, my Mom stopped by and talked about a song she heard on the radio and she could NOT like it because it was different from the original. I was EMPHATIC in telling her that the performer makes a HUGE  difference in the version of this song! The first example I gave her was, Last Christmas.  Taylor Swift does NOT do justice to Wham!’s song!!!

My ULTIMATE, FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG EVER!!!

I heard this song one Christmas when I was at Parker’s and could not get into it AT ALL!  Sorry Tay!

Then, I reminded her of the U2 song that Il Volo ruined! She likes their version better but Both my niece, Ysabelle and I agree that they COMPLETELY ruined the song!

But then I told her that there is one song that is the BEST cover EVER! I Think Johnny Cash did such a better job even though he did not write the song!

Love

My last post from a few days ago was somewhat of a, “Debbie Downer” and for that I apologize!  I try my best to NOT buy in to the devastation MS has had on my body and my life thus far.  However, since my lapse in positivity and with  that recent post, the LOVE I have felt from everyone is BEYOND heartwarming!   Comments and suggestions I have on both Twitter and Facebook are very much appreciated!!!  I definitely feel the love and with every comment I read  and with every view on my blog I  I am reminded of this song:

I never knew the words to the song until watching the lyric video. Sorry about the cussing. It’s kind of deep. No wonder I’m poor! When it says, “Your health is your wealth”  well… yeah, no.  Not so much! But Sean tells me that we have enough so that makes me feel OK.

I’ve almost forgot about The Script and recently have been listening to them again.   As I listen to their songs on loop, I am reminded of the last concert I went to with my cousinT Shannon. As things are playing out now, I really feel that will be the last concert I go to EVER.

Those memories are helping to cheer me during this HORRIBLE heat where I have been confined to my living room, not really moving from my spot in front of the TV.
