Hoarding

I first want to say that in the midst of this pandemic, I am NOT hoarding anything! Before everything hit the fan, my Mom made sure to make sure that I was well supplied with all of my medical supplies that I need every day! However, my brother, Ray, posted this yesterday:

Now, I don’t use aluminum foil nor do I eat bacon so I don’t save the grease but…

I have come to the decision/realization that there will be something that I will be hoarding for many days to come once all of this is over! Let me start with a little background:

Teeth have ALWAYS been important to me. I think in my college days, I was not as vigilant in getting cleanings and stuff but then I had Sean. I still talk to him about the memory I have of Dr. Berman checking his teeth for the first time when he was just about three years old. I remember the incident and always laugh because I can’t forget the visual of Dr. Berman sitting on his dentist chair and having Sean between his knees as he tried to pry open his mouth to take a look at his teeth. Sean was NOT having it!

From that moment on, I continued to have a cleaning every six months and Sean would accompany me each time. While I was getting my teeth clean, he usually just played in the play room at the dentist office. Once he started getting regular cleanings, I would schedule our appointments simultaneously so we would both finish at the same time.

I had scheduled a cleaning appointment for just after my 30th birthday. That was the cleaning where I realized that flossing was NOT optional! I talked with my hygienist about the importance of flossing now that I was in my 30s.

Since that day, I have flossed every day, twice a day because it is imperative for me to keep my teeth and gums healthy! That’s what sparked my thoughts about items that would definitely hoard when this pandemic is over.

Flosspicks.

And not just ANY floss pick, THESE floss picks:

These specific flosspicks are NOWHERE to be found now! I did NOT thinkthat I would need to stock up on these but as my current package is running out, I tried to use different floss picks to replace the ones I normally get. But… With my loss of hand strength and control, these picks are an ABSOLUTE necessity.

I am NOT ashamed to say that I WILL be hoarding in these from now on!

My Growth Project

Yesterday, I noticed for the first time in just over 12 years that there was hair touching my neck! I had really long hair growing up and I cut it at the end of my senior year and then allowed it to grow again until my 26th birthday.

On my 26th birthday, I cut it and I still have the same haircut now. Short hair is easier to deal with as my MS has progressed.

So after I noticed that I could feel hair on my neck, I took a look at my eyebrows. Man, they are growing in extensively! It makes me laugh but Sean says they don’t look too bad yet. Yesterday, one of the members in my Women with MS group asked everybody what the first thing they would do when the quarantine was over. I replied. “Get my eyebrows waxed.”

i’m pretty sure that is the first thing I will do before I see a new one but it doesn’t really matter right now. My mom washed my hair yesterday and it took a long time to blow dry and when I was finished, I flipped my hair over my left shoulder with my hand and swung my head back. If my Mom laughed at me because my hair is NOT long but it feels that way to me!

My The Office Binge: Day 11

Unbeknownst to me, I finished season four today. I stopped my binge to watch A Mountain Between Us with my Mom as Sean completed his homework. I’ve seen the movie before but, I can ALWAYS dig any movie with Idris Elba in it!

Sean told me that I was going to meet Holly and then I just met at her in the season finale of season four. That was really cool when Michael was making her a mix and he put this song on it:

Call me old but I can really dig some Dave Matthews Band! Tomorrow, I start season five!

I thought the season four finale was just wonderful! It really stinks how Andy ruined Jim’s moment! Something to look forward to, I guess. Sean told me that season four is the best and my nephew, David, told me that season four/five is the best. I just love this show!

My The Office Binge: Day 10

Since my Mom is staying with me now, I had to cut down my binge. We watched a movie together and this is the one I chose:

I love that movie and my Mom didn’t mind. We watched a movie she liked the other day. She will get a phone call and take it in the kitchen so I will sneak in an episode of The Office. I am still on season four and I just saw the episode where Michael and Dwight go to a club with Ryan in New York. I’m in the middle of that episode but I can’t get in the episode where Michael Falls in love with the chairman in the magazine but she is done and Michael and Dwight go to the cemetery to see her grave. They sing as the episode is and and I laughed hysterically!:

I am really digging then Jim has an engagement ring for Pam and I’m excited for him to propose.

My The Office Binge: Day 9

I am still on season four of my binge but my Mom has migrated to my house to take care of me. We both are in vulnerable groups, me, with my compromised immune system and her with her age. So now, I have my, “2 Sacreds” here with me all of the time. Although Sean is more than willing to accompany me on my, The Office binge, my Mom, not so much so I had to cut my binge a little bit short so that we could watch a movie my mom approved of.

I was able to watch the episode where Michael claims bankruptcy and runs to the train. It’s crazy how much I can laugh at all of these circumstances!
