“Yule Tide Cry” OR Obtuseness

Yesterday morning, I posted my Christmas Faves for Christmas 2018  on my blog. I was playing a few of my favorites as my Mom helped me get ready for the day.   I put a Christmas station on that played a lot of songs that she liked.  I remembered hearing these songs as a child.  Sean sang along as he washed the dishes and he yelled out, “Christmas!”

My Mom and I started to laugh and he let us know that it was a, “Yule Tide Cry!” as if it was completely normal!   It made me so happy to hear him singing along with songs I remember hearing my parents’ house when I was younger. The, “Pop, pop, pop!” reminded me of being in the kitchen as my parents’ house for sure!

”Sleigh Ride”  Johnny Mathis

Hearing this song and my son sing-along with it let me know that I completely forgot to add that into my Christmas Faves list!  My obtuseness continued when Sean took me to see Bohemian Rhapsody. Because it is after Christmas, the radio stations play Christmas music and I will allow myself to listen to it and as Sean loaded my wheelchair up into his car,  I heard this song:

“Christmas Time is Here”  Vince Guaraldi Trio

I don’t know that I have ever heard this song on the radio and listened to the entire thing but I did so yesterday! It made me think of my kids at CCA. That was my thing, the half day before Christmas break when I had 32 minutes per class, I would show A Charlie Brown Christmas because it is 25 minutes in length and it still give me time to hand out Tootsie Roll Pops to my kids. That also was my thing whenever I showed a movie.  I would let my kids decide if they wanted mini candy canes or Tootsie Roll Pops.  The suckers always won!

Hopefully, I will add these to the list!  if not this year, definitely next year!
